About Douglas Melzer

Entrepreneur and founder of AIG Partners Group – The Next Generation Group was born on April 25, 1968, in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.

Douglas Melzer is the son of Robert and Nancy Melzer of Sykesville, Pennsylvania.  Melzer is the youngest of four siblings and the only boy in the family.  He is the brother of Roberta Berger, Elizabeth Luck and Susan Fetterman.

Douglas Melzer grew up with loving parents who stressed the importance of being well-educated and encouraged him to explore what the world had to offer.  At 18, Melzer would join the United States Marine Corps.  During the next several years he would be deployed numerous times and eventually injured in combat.  Melzer is a Disabled American Combat Veteran.

Today, Douglas Melzer and his wife Heather have been happily married for 25 years and have  5 wonderful children. They enjoy doing different activities including Obstacle Course racing, triathlons, fitness training, biking, basketball, football and more. Heather, eldest son Casey and second son, Corey are accomplished athletes in their own right. For the past several years Heather has competed internationally as a member of the United States Women’s Triathlon Team. Casey, while a junior in high school, signed his National Letter Of Intent and accepted a scholarship to swim for the University of Texas.  Corey, while in his senior year of high school accepted an offer to play football at Penn State University as a Defensive Back. The entire family loves to live a healthy lifestyle.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Growing up in western Pennsylvania, Douglas Melzer was taught to hunt by his grandfather, Jay Melzer. Today bowhunting continues to be a deep passion of his and has plans to write a book about hunting and the environment one day.

Douglas Melzer and his family are proud supporters of the Pittsburgh Food Bank, Adopt A Pet, Semper Fi Foundation, Marine Recon Foundation, and numerous Rescue Shelters near the city of Pittsburgh.  His family belongs to Victory Church in North Pittsburgh.
